Stewart James H. ``Jim'' Stewart, DVM, age 76, of Olathe, KS passed away May 12, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Dr. Stewart was born June 10, 1925 in Mpls., MN, the son of Chester & Dorothy (Huffman) Stewart. He served in the Navy during WWII, and married Katharina A. Ristau on June 30, 1956 at the First Congregational Church in Eau Claire, WI. He earned a BS. from the Univ. of MN in 1949; a M.S. from Michigan State Univ. in 1962; and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine as part of the inaugural graduating class of the Univ. of MN College of Veterinary Medicine in 1951. He retired in 1985 after 30 years of service in the federal government, working as a veterinary medical officer in the Dept. of Agriculture. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Katharina Stewart, of the home; son, Paul Stewart, Olathe, KS; daughter, Linda Stewart, Los Angeles, CA; brother, William Stewart, New Orleans, LA; and 1 grandson, Peter Stewart. A memorial service will be held 11 AM Thursday, May 30 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Olathe, KS In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Irondequoit (NY) United Church of Christ, 644 Titus Ave., Rochester, NY 14617, where he served as a long-time member and deacon.
