Anna M. Bienias

Bienias Anna M. Bienias, age 94, of North Ridge Care Center, formerly of NE Mpls. and Crystal, passed away June 12, 2005. Preceded in death by husband of 66 years, Mathew; her father, Michael Bednarz and mother, Amelia. Survived by her son, Eugene & wife Carol; loving daughter, Peggy Bistodeau; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great- grandchildren; sister, Emily Fagerhaug; sister-in-law, Constance Bednarczyk; nephews, nieces, family and friends. Anna was born in Poland on Sept. 15, 1910, immigrated to the USA with her parents when she was about three years old. She was raised in NE Mpls., attended Holy Cross School & Church and married Mathew at Holy Cross in 1931. Ann & Matt moved to Crystal and opened Ann's Grill on Bass Lake Road in 1949 and continued to expand business ventures and opened Bienias Variety Store in 1952. They opened and operated Matt's Bottle Shoppe until retirement in 1972 at which time they moved to the Cross Lake area and then back to Maple Grove & Crystal area. Anna was very active in helping her relatives and friends in Poland for many years after World War II with clothing, food and financial aid. She was an active volunteer in the activity dept. of North Ridge Apts. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Friday, June 17, 2005, St. Raphael's Catholic Church, 7301 Bass Lake Road, Crystal. Visitation Thursday, June 16, 4-8 PM with 7 PM rosary prayers at Kapala-Glodek- Malone Funeral Home, 7800 Bass Lake Road, New Hope, and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment at Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials preferred to Monastery of St. Clare, c/o Sr. Margaret Mewhorter, 8650 Russell Ave. S., Bloomington, MN 55431.
