Peterson, Howard Carl of Elk River. Born May 2, 1928, passed away Friday, Jan. 2, 2015 after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was preced- ed in death by his wife, Patricia. Survived by his children, Debra (Paul) DeWolfe, John (Julie), Sue (Troy) Mertens, David (Lynae); 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. Howard played football, basketball and baseball at Mankato High School. Served in the Army in Korea and was also Captain of the Mankato State University football team in the late 1940's. He was a beloved father, teacher and coach for over 35 years in Northfield and Burnsville, MN. He was a charter member of MN Wrestling Coaches Assoc., Dave Bartelma Hall of Fame, as well as a member of Northfield High School Athletic Hall of Fame. In his spare time, he loved spending time at the cabin with his family, writing, golf and fishing. Funeral service Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, 4:30 PM, with visitation starting at 3 PM, all at Dare's Funeral Home, 805 Main St. NW, Elk River, MN. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
