Ericson Jan Kromer Ericson Janice Gail Ericson, 68, surrounded by her children, went to be with her Lord on April 17, 2005. She was born on February 12, 1937 to Florence and Merville Kromer in Minneapolis, MN. Never liking the name Janice, she was known by all as Jan. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1954. She was involved in school choirs and dance classes. Ice skating with friends and taking the streetcar with her Mom to go shopping were her loves. She was the first in her family to attend college - the University of Minnesota - graduating with a degree in Elementary Education in 1958. She was a Chi Omega and made many lifelong friends in the sorority. After graduation she took a job teaching kindergarten in San Bernardino, CA. A certain young man whom she had dated at the U of M followed her out west to pursue the relationship. She was engaged to John Ericson shortly afterward, and they were married July 17, 1959. They settled in Minneapolis until 1970, when they relocated to Phoenix, AZ. Jan devoted the next 13 years to raising her children, volunteering with various organizations, and pursuing her faith in the Lord. Jan came to know, trust, and love Jesus until her mid 30's. This was a life-changing event for her, and it became central to her person. Always impeccably dressed and possessing an eye for detail and beauty, she created a lovely home. Jan also began to tole paint furniture and accessories built by her husband. Her love of ice-skating never left her, as she never missed a televised competition. She also began spending summers in San Diego in the early 1990's. The beautiful weather and environment filled her heart with well-being for many years. In February 2002, Jan suffered a brain aneurysm, followed by two strokes that left her brain damaged and incapacitated. The release of Jan's spirit from her damaged body was a merciful end to her suffering. Her passing has left a deep hole in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Jan was preceded in death by her parents; an older sister who passed before Jan's birth, and an older brother. Her husband of 45 years, John Ericson; her three children, Greg & his wife Laura, Tracy Evilsizor & her husband Jeff, and Lynn Bayko & her husband Ben survive her. Jan also had four grandchildren: Candace, Danielle, and Margo Evilsizor, and Sadie Bayko. She was loved and adored by her entire family. Services to be held at Green Acres Mortuary, Scottsdale, AZ, on Sat., April 23, 2005 at 11 AM.
