Ovid Bastien

Bastien Ovid "Biddy", age 87. Preceded in death by parents, William & Estelle; brothers, Vince, Tony, Billy and Patrick; sister, Gertrude Sims and most beloved wife, Anne. Survived by brother, David; sister, Annette Hughart; sons, David (Judy) and William (Linda); granddaughters, Lydia Gold (Jeremy) and Elizabeth Bastien; and many nieces and nephews. A professional musician from the age of 13, Biddy worked with almost all the major jazz talents of the twentieth century. His last gig was with the Jurassic Trio on April 30, 2003. He will be missed by all who knew him for his ebulient personality. He will be missed by musicians and audiences for his flawless artistry. Most of all, he will be missed by his family for his deep and abiding love. A service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, June 8 at 1:00 pm at the Old Log Theater in Excelsior. Memorials preferred to the Vincent R. Bastien Memorial Scholarship Fund.
