Eugene Cable

Cable Cable, Eugene (Geno) Grandpa Geno April 2, 1931 May 23, 2003 of Minneapolis, formerly of Osakis/Alexandria, MN. Geno has begun the next phase of his journey after battling cancer. The spirit of Geno was with him until the end. Preceded in death by his mother, Grace (Harding) Cable; father, William Cable; step-mother, Rose (Yezek-Schildt) Cable; son, Kory Watkins; brothers, Robert Calhoun, Richard Cable, Joseph Schildt; sister, Lucille "Pete" Johnson (Schildt), Survived by daughters, Darla Velasco, Kelly Johnson (Joe), Karrie Cable-Spratt (Larry); grandchildren, Tony, Ian, Tyler, Chelsea and Brandon; sisters, Shirley Richards (Schildt), Regina Krouth (Schildt); nieces, nephews, extended family and many, many friends. Geno was a Readi-Mix driver for over 33 years, he retired 7 years ago from Camas Readi-Mix (Model Stone). He was member of the Local Teamsters 221. He was an avid NASCAR fan who rarely missed a race and many years ago was a local stock car racer himself - driving his car #45 nicknamed Lil' Spooks, the same nickname he gave his oldest daughter, Darla. His love for music, especially country, kept a smile on his face and his toes tappin' during the many hours that he spent driving. The family would like to offer special thanks to Mike & Roxy Marsyla for becoming part of his extended family. Robin Tatro for being his special friend, and the countless others for their many years of friendship - he thought the world of all you. Pastor Ron Johnson for the support he gave our family. Lisa, Karen and Kathleen from Allina Hospice for the care they offered while he was still at home, and the staff of Our Lady of Good Council Cancer Home for making his last days as peaceful as possible. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to family. Memorial service will be held 12:00, Tuesday, with visitation one hour prior at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2730 East 31st Street, Minneapolis 612.729.8358. Reception to follow.
