Mjos Timothy A. Mjos, MD, Appleton, Wisconsin, age 56, passed away at his home peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2005. Tim was born in Minneapolis on April 11, 1948, son of the late Delphine (Hartley) Mjos and John Mjos who resides in King, Wisconsin. Tim was a graduate of the Anoka, Minnesota High School where he excelled in football, hockey, and baseball. He then attended and graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota where he was an All-American football player and was also named North Dakota Athlete of the Year in 1970. Tim was also an 8th round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers in 1970. On February 25, 1978, Tim married Joanne Swiderski in Colorado, and later the same year he graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and for many years was affiliated with numerous orthopedic clinics in Minnesota and Virginia. In 1995, he opened his own practice (Northeast Wisconsin Orthopedics, SC). Tim was a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. In recent years, he was the team orthopedic physician for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and the Appleton United Hockey Team. He enjoyed his career immensely, especially arthroscopy of the shoulder, knee, and other sports-related injuries. Tim also enjoyed skiing, sailing, flying, theatre, computers, cars, motorcycles, sports of all kinds, and coaching hockey. Survivors include his father: John Mjos of King; his wife: Joanne Mjos of Appleton; two sons: Brandon (Lisa) Mjos of Appleton and Brian Mjos of Waukesha, Wisconsin; three brothers: Thomas Mjos of Kentucky, Richard (Jerri) Mjos of Kentucky, and Ronald (Lisa) Mjos of Salt Lake City; a brother-in-law: Robert Swiderski of Peabody, Massachusetts; Joanne's mother: Nellie Swiderski of Kaukauna, Wisconsin; three aunts: Violet Mjos of Minneapolis, Audrey Mjos of Minneapolis, and Delores Hartley of New Mexico; and his best friend Grumpy. Tim was preceded in death by his mother, uncles Clarence (Helen) Mjos, Bud (Midge) Mjos, Carl Mjos, Ed Mjos, and Harold Harley, and an aunt Verna (Bob) Fagerlie. The funeral liturgy for Tim will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, April 15, 2005 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street in Appleton, Wisconsin, with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and again at the church on Friday from 1:30 PM until the hour of the services. Wichmann Funeral Home 537 N.
