Werner James A., 73, our dad, died peacefully 5/19 in his Cocoa Beach FL home that he shared with Philomena Gregorian. Born in Lincoln NE to Karl and Doris; raised in Richfield with siblings Nancy (Jorgensen) and Robert; graduated Roosevelt High 1947; played professional baseball & tennis; master carpenter; married to our mom Barbara (Priglmeier) for 22 years; served 2 years in the Army at Ft. Riley KS; retired after 35+ years court reporting (15 years with Christopher L. Columbus Assoc., St Paul). A natural athlete, Dad excelled in tennis and held the men's #1 spot in regional competitions in the 1960's-70's. (The hotter it got, the better he played!) His gypsy spirit and pursuit of a perfect climate took him to La Jolla CA where for 15 years he successfully balanced work and tennis. Believing Hawaii would be even better, he spent a year there as a resort tennis pro, but it was an unhappy one. (Too windy!) Dad pursued his dreams, but paid a price. He loved life on both coasts, but also Lake Harriet popcorn, Minnehaha Falls, Loring Park, Nicollet Park courts & Westrum's, U of MN courts & Vescio's, fishing at Mille Lacs, skiing at Telemark, and family dinners at DiNapoli & Sunday breakfasts at The Forum. We love you, Dad. Adios, Aloha & Peace. Katherine, Karen (Johnson), Glenn & Gail & your 6 grandchildren.
