Lawrence Dulcie Ann Lawrence 7/31/24 - 3/17/05 Dulcie Lawrence, 80, died on March 17, 2005 in Minneapolis of complications of multiple sclerosis. Dulcie was an accomplished journalist, musician and champion of social justice whose cheerful presence lit up the lives of everyone around her. She reported from the Capitol for Minnesota Educational Radio, the forerunner of MPR, one of the first women in the Capitol pressroom. Later, she contributed op-ed columns to the Minneapolis Star Tribune on subjects ranging from gay rights to abortion politics to baseball. She was active in the civil rights movement, political campaigns and anti-war demonstrations. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Van Lawrence; children, Gabrielle (Don Postema), Joseph (Michael Stanton), Chris (Ruu-Tian), Matthew (Rose) and Rebecca; grandchildren, Justin and Keegan Gourlie, Sam and Peter Lawrence, Tom Lawrence; step-grandchildren, Bryanna, Kristofer and Meghan Longley-Postema. Also survived by her brother, Ted (Margaret) Witt; nieces, Allison and Hillary, and many friends and admirers. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 23 at 10 AM at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, 519 Oak Grove, Mpls.
