Vita, George James Jr. age 68 of Greenfield passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014 after a year long battle with esophageal cancer. George was born on January 12, 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents, June & George Vita. He leaves his wife of 39 years, Patricia (Sop) Vita, his four children Kelly Laumann (John), John Anderson (Kristi), Jenny Stockhaus (Matt) & Chad Vita (Erin); his grandchildren, Jesse, Jared & Kenzi Laumann; Aaron & Andrew Anderson and Diego Stockhaus. George is also survived by his brother Bill Vita (Marty); sisters Sandy & Cindy; brother in-law Jim Sop (Maureen). George grew up in St. Louis Park & graduated from St. Louis Park High School. He served in the military from 1965 to 1967. In 1968 George began working at the General Motors distribution center in Edina where he worked for 30 years. George was an avid sports participant & fan. He played football in high school & loved the Vikings, was a very talented bowler & after retirement he was able to spend his free time playing golf. For many years George was a member of the Southbrook Golf Club in Annandale & spent 10 years as a volunteer golf marshal with the 3M PGA. The family will greet relatives & friends on Friday, November 21st at 1:00 p.m. for a Memorial Service at the Peterson Chapel Home in Buffalo, MN, with visitation at 12:00 p.m. Serving the family. . .
