Thorp Phyllis Jean Foster Thorp was born 01/07/1922 in York, Nebraska, died 04/19/2002 at N.C. Little Hospice, Edina, Minnesota. Survived by siblings, Doris Hunter, Denver, CO and Kenneth Foster, Isabella, MO; children, Lauretta Shipley (Raymond), Wake Forest, NC, Paul Thorp (Ann), Eden Prairie, MN, David Thorp (Kathleen), Hopkins, MN and Valerie Thorp-Rosenberg (Robert Rosenberg), Glenview, IL; grandchildren, Jennifer Wooden, Wake Forest, NC, Raymond Shipley, Clayton, NC, Christopher Thorp and Sarah Thorp of Minneapolis, MN, Meghan Thorp and Katherine Thorp of Hopkins, MN, Benjamin Rosenberg, Nathaniel Rosenberg and Julia Rosenberg of Glenview, IL; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Tyler Rogers, Wake Forest, NC. Also survived by Donald Thorp, Hayward, WI. Phyllis graduated from York High School and York College. She taught chemistry at York High School. She served in the Navy during WWII, stationed in San Diego, CA, she was awared the American Area Campaign and World War II Victory medals. She then attended Aurora Collge. She worked for St. Charles Hospital. She volunteered for Girl Scout Committee, The 4-H Club, American Legion (Past Commander), The League of Women Voters, The Red Cross, The Hayward Chapter of AARP, Hayward Garden Club, Spider Lake Church, Lioness, New England Congregational Church and the Batavia Congregational Church. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 11 AM, Spider Lake Church, 12104 N. Twin Lake Road, Hayward, WI. Interment with military honors at Greenwood Cemetery, York, Nebraska. Memorials preferred to N.C. Little Hospice, 7019 Lynmar Lane, Edina, MN 55435. Arr. with Cremation Society of Minnesota-Edina Chapel.
