Cooper Charlotte S., age 82, of Albert Lea, died April 18, 2002. She was born April 26, 1919 in New York City to Harry and Sophie Seltzer. In 1940, Charlotte received her Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Hunter College in New York City. She married Bertram Cooper June 22, 1941 and in 1950 they moved to Albert Lea. She went on to receive her Master's degree in Sociology from Mankato State University in 1974. Charlotte was active in and president of numerous organizations such as the League of Women Voters, Adath Jeshurun Congregation, Hadassah, the National Council of Jewish Women, B'nai Brith, and AAUW. She founded the Social Work Department at Naeve Hospital, served on the Board of Trustees of Naeve Health Care Foundation, and was a member of the Hopital's Medical Ethics Committee. She also worked at Girard School in Austin, MN and was a founding member of the hospice in Albert Lea. Charlotte's warmth enveloped everyone who met her. Her generosity and thoughtfulness made people feel special. She had a flair for dressing and entertaining and was always ready for the next adventure. Charlotte's intelligence, energy, and determination helped make the world a better place. Her spirit and wonderful zest for life were an inspiration to the many who called Charlotte their good friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bertram; her parents; her brothers, Solomon and Stanley; and sister, Arlene. She is survived by her daughters & son-in-law, Beth & Greg Hilbert, and Lauren Cooper; son & daughter-in-law, Peter & Gloria Cooper; and grandchildren, Alexandra and Seth Cooper, and Joshua Hilbert.
