Katherine ``Sue'' Bakken was born in Mpls on Nov. 16, 1941. She died Monday April 15, 2002 after a short, valiant battle with cancer. She was a near life- time resident of St. Louis Park. She graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1959. She was a hard working, energetic and generous person with multiple talents. She was most recently employed by the Tom James Clothing Co. She is sorely missed by her co-workers and friends there, as well as her many friends and acquaintances at the Hopkins VFW where she worked as a bingo caller. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Johanna Bakken. She is survived by her significant partner in life, Dick Halseth; two loving sisters, Betty (Harold) Froom of Arden Hills, and Karen Wahlberg of Mound; a brother, Butch (JoAnn) Bakken of Grand Rapids; nieces and nephews, John Froom, Tony, Dan, Tom & Charles Hinton, Anne Overdahl, Katie Firman and Corey Bakken; and several great nieces and nephews. Thank you to the kind nurses and doctors at 4E at Methodist Hospital. A special thank you to her good friends at the Hopkins VFW Post #435. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Memorial services 1:30 PM Friday at Wooddale Lutheran Church, 4003 Wooddale Ave S. Pvt int. Lakewood. Visitation at church 1 hr before service.
