Raymond Robert J. Raymond, age 75, of Golden Valley. Robert, known to his friends & family as "Bob" - spent most of his childhood in the state orphanage in Owatonna, MN. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, there he was a radar technician. He participated in the first hydrogen bomb testing. While employed at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, he met and married Teresa Holzheu, together they had six children during their 53 years of marriage. Bob was very active in the Golden Valley VFW. He was a Post Commander and an All-State Commander, besides being a machinist by trade. He was also a part-time farmer. Bob had many interests which included football, hockey, fishing, hunting and camping. Most Sundays were spent watching the Minnesota Vikings. He also had a great love of animals. Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Teresa and their children: son, Daniel Raymond & wife Nancy & their sons Dustin & Aaron; daughter, Nancy Zimmermann & husband Keith; daughter, Patricia Raymond & her dogs Tanner & Cody; daughter, Cynthia Collentine & husband John & their children Tyghre, Tandehl & Traehn; daughter, Julie Pakonen & husband Thomas; & their daughters, Jessica and Melanie; son, David Raymond; sister, Helen Carlson. Funeral service Mon. 10 AM, Kapala-Glodek-Malone Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 7800 Bass Lake Road, New Hope. Visitation Sunday 7-9 PM & 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home.
