Thurik Steven Michael, age 59, of Mpls, passed away May 6, 2003. Preceded in death by father, John William and beloved sister-in-law, Joyce Thurik. Survived by mother, Arietta (Peggy) Thurik; children, John Steven (Jeannette), Jesse Blackbear, Ashley Wambli, and Tatianna Amarissa; proud grandfather of Brandon Tyler and Courtney Ann; former wife & partner for past 22 years, Stephanie Thurik Carlson; friend & ex-wife, Melody Beattie; brothers, Chuck Thurik & children Lynnae (Roy), Ross and Brett, and Tom (Jan) and children Jacqueline, Scott and Tim. Steve will be remembered and highly regarded by all the people he helped during his 25 years as a psychotherapist in Minneapolis. His clients, friends, and colleagues include people from Family Renewal Center at Fairview Southdale, Synergy, Friends of Bill W., and his ground-breaking emotional healing work based on The New Identity Process Therapy by Dr. Casriel. It is with great pride that Steve received his master's degree in psychology at St. Mary's University in Minneapolis. Steve will be loved and missed by all as he is welcomed home by the Great Spirit. Memorial Services will be held 2 pm Friday, May 9 at Lakewood Memorial Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave., Mpls. Reception will follow at 3:30 pm at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Av S., Mpls. Flowers and memorials may be sent to Lakewood.
