Mann, John Arlow age 84, lifelong resident of Anoka, MN. John was born on April 21, 1930 in Anoka and passed away on Nov. 4, 2014. He taught 25 years in the Anoka-Hennepin District #11 where he was the local president of AHEA in the early 1970's. He was on the Anoka City Council for 24 years, Anoka City Planning Commission for 10 years, Anoka-Champlin Fire Board, Anoka Anti-Crime Board and a 55 year member of the Anoka Lions Club. John was also a Veteran of the Korean War. John and Yvonne and their business partners, Ron and Nina Collins owned and operated Manco Rentals of Anoka for nearly 50 years. John is preceded in death by his parents, Arlow and Myrtle Mann; sister, June Bendix; and infant grandson, Cameron Gessler. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Yvonne; children, Kathryn (Walt) Gessler, Brian (Mary Beth) Mann and Gregory (Barb) Mann; grandchildren, Thea Gessler, Adam and Jonah Mann, Anna and John Mann. He is survived by his beloved in-laws, David and Donna Legrid and Elaine Jahnke; nephews and nieces, Jon and Karen Bendix, David Bendix, Barb and Scott Canakes, David Legrid, Paul and Kelley Legrid, Keith and Michele Legrid, Carol and Darrell Nitschke, Jennifer and David Howey; many great nephews and nieces, and many, many friends. Funeral service Saturday 10 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 1601 4th Ave S., Anoka. Visitation one hour prior to service at the church only.
