Black Bernard G. (Bernie), 86, of Oldsmar, FL, formerly of Fridley, died peacefully on April 29, 2003. Preceded in death by grandson, Andrew Black. Survived by wife of 56 years, Mary Ellen; children, James (Joan) Champlin, MN, William (Madonna) Brainerd, MN, Judy Allan (Bill) Placerville, CA, Barbara Sandstrom (Len) Shoreview, MN, Robert (Debbie) Robbinsdale, MN; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Although legally blind, Bernie graduated from the U of M School of Business and successfully founded and co-founded several Twin City businesses. Bernie was also active in a wide variety of civic and fraternal organizations. A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 am June 14, 2003, at the Michael Servetus Unitarian Society, Fridley. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the State Services for the Blind-Radio Talking Book; 2200 University Ave W Suite 240, St. Paul, MN 55114-1840 .
