Merrill Donald W., age 82, of Dassel and Mesa, AZ, succumbed to a sudden heart attack on April 20, 2003. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Della and Ferrie; brother, Frank; and granddaughter, Jennifer. He is survived by Alice, his wife of 56 years; children, Scott, Donn and Lee Ann; grandchildren, Mychal, Matthew, Alex and Patrick; brother, Glen; other relatives and friends. Don retired in 1982 after 32 years at General Mills. He also was the inventor of the Merrill Bow Sight. Don enjoyed an active retirement including hiking, participating in archery competition and hunting. He again won the 2003 Senior Olympics archery event for his age bracket. He was a veteran of WWII. Family and friends alike knew him for his terrific sense of humor and sharp wit. Burial Friday 10:30 AM at Fort Snelling Cemetery (Assembly area # 5). Memorial service Friday 1 PM at Gearty-Delmore Chapel of Plymouth, 37th and Vicksburg Lane with visitation 1 hour prior to service.
