Kenney, James Walter age 81. Preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 51 years, Mary Paula (Kivel); sister Mary Patricia; brothers John, Tom, Dave, and Bob. Survived by daughters Bonnie (John) Casey and Mary Brigh (David) Janisch; grandchildren Conor Casey and Emily & Kate Janisch; brother Tim, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and dear friend Judy Snyder. He attended St. Matthew's, Humboldt High School class of '51, College of St. Thomas and William Mitchell College of Law. He served as a Sergeant in the US Army. He began his legal career in 1963 at a South St. Paul firm, then Chief prosecutor for the City of St. Paul, 1966-1969. He worked for Mansur & Mansur until 1972, when he co-founded the still existing firm of Geraghty, O'Loughlin & Kenney, ending his active career as senior partner there in 1989. He was honored when invited to join the American College of Trial Lawyers, a supreme achievement, and enjoyed arguing cases in many notable trials. In retirement, he enjoyed his time playing golf and teaching computer classes on Crystal Cruise lines while sailing around the world with Mary. His incredible sense of humor and knack for telling stories regaled both family and friends for years, until Alzheimer's robbed him of that pleasure. This did not stop him from adoring his family, experiencing love again and being grateful for his wonderful life. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Catholic Eldercare, Allina Hospice and JA Wedum Hospice Center. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Monday, October 27, 2014 at The Church of the Assumption, 51 West 7th Street in St. Paul, followed by burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
