Sedio, Darryl Patrick, Ph.D. age 66, of Northeast Minneapolis was found dead on October 18, 2014 with faithful dog Jack by his side. Darryl was born December 06, 1947. A graduate of Edison High School, class of 1965, he went on to receive his Bachelor's, Master's and Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota. Darryl counseled veterans, post Vietnam War, at the VA Medical Center. He worked closely, counseling and educating, inmates at Stillwater Correctional Facility, and helped at risk youth in North Minneapolis prepare for and attain their GED's. In 1971, Darryl and his brother Mike opened 'Custom Paint by God', a custom motorcycle building, and painting enterprise. Darryl developed and founded the University of Minnesota's flagship program, Advanced High School Student Services. As the director Darryl helped many, many high school students earn college credit while still attending high school. He later traveled nationwide assisting other states in implementing similar programs. He went on to accept a position working for the State of Minnesota Department of Education. He was the co-founder and director of the Fort Snelling Academy Charter School. Darryl is preceded in death by his father, John D. Sedio of Minneapolis. He is survived by his mother, Floye B. Sedio (Austin, TX); brother, Michael J. Sedio (Phola) (Longmont, CO); daughter, Barbra (Sedio) Neumann (Kurt-BoDeans) (Dripping Springs, TX); grandchildren, Zachary (26), Tessa (23), Jordan (20), Hannah (18), Sophia (13), Aja (11), and Gianna (5); Niece, Layla Jean Sedio (4); aunts, Patricia Guiney, Marilyn Revier, and Rena Hansen; several close cousins, and many, many lifelong friends. Visitation will be held Saturday 10/25/14 from 6-8 PM at Washburn-McReavy Hillside Chapel.
