Kenady, James Claude Riverside, CA. Formerly of So St Paul, passed Sept 15 at age 95. Born Velva, No Dak on 12/14/1918. Son of railroad executive & ordained Congregation Minister Elias H and Mary E Kenady. Named after Captain James C Kenady (uncle) who was killed in the Argonne-Verdun Battle in WWI. Married Alice Lila Stroh 11/9/1942 at 1st Methodist Church, Lubbock, TX. 4 Sons: James S - deceased 7/23/1992 (Nan), Alison, Jason; Paul C (Judy), Jay, Mitchell, Andrew; Frederick (Fran), Brian, Laura; David (Mary), Ericka. Great Grandchildren: Jordan, Cameron, Avery, Jaycee, Chase, Caroline. Preceded in death by wife Alice, sister Marjorie and 3 brothers. James attended Minot St College, ND; Dakota College, Fargo; Harvard Business School; University of Minnesota; University of Chicago. Graduated Pilot Training, Lubbock & commissioned 2nd Lt overseas with Troop Carrier units 1942-1945. OPMS officer 61st TC Group & 52nd TC Wing on BG Harold L Clark staff. Combat missions in No Africa, Sicily, Italy, D Day France, Southern France, Holland, Belgium, Wesel, Germany & Norway. Awarded Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, Presidential Unit citations, Mission Stars. Chosen by General George S Patton to return with him to U.S. for 7th War Bond Tour 6/5/1945. Left active duty 1/1/1946, retired from Air Force Reserve as Lt Colonel 5/9/1957. Worked for Great Northern Railway Co, 1946 as General Tax Agent, Land & Tax Comm Assistant, Vice President. Upon merger resulting in Burlington Northern Railroad 3/3/1970, became AVP-Vice President & President of 2 subsidiary companies. Retired 12/1/1981 & moved to Rancho Bernardo, CA. Served as consultant to various railroad, marketing & sales projects. Community service: Silver Beaver Boy Scouts of America, St Paul Boards of Kiwanis, YMCA, St Paul Athletic Club, Minnesota Club, 27 years St Paul Goodwill Industries (7 years President). Member of Methodist & Presbyterian churches. Study groups at U of Minnesota, U of Chicago, Harvard Business School. Member & session member of Rancho Bernardo President Church, Legion of Honor - De Molay. Interment 1:00, Oct 24, Ft Snelling. Memorial reception Crowne Plaza, 3 Apple Tree Square Bloomington, 1:30-3:30, Oct 25. Memorials to donor's choice.
