Leland Irel Johnson

Johnson Leland Irel, 83, of Merritt Island, FL, formerly of Minnetonka, died April 19, 2003. Preceded in death by brothers, Paul and Will. Survived by daughter, Darlene Berndt, Asheville, NC; son, Stephen (Cyndi), Merritt Island, FL; grandchildren, Stacey (Craig) Williams, Phillip Berndt, Matthew Johnson; sisters, Florence Olesen and Ellen (Glenn) Boyum; brother, Richard (Janet); sister-in-law, Phyllis Johnson. He began his career in education in Winona and became an administrator in the Osseo area schools, first as a principal, then as Assistant Superintendent until retiring in 1982. Health advocate and sports enthusiast, Lee always looked forward to a good game of golf. A family celebration of life will be held in Minnesota July 20.
