Mayo Gerald S. Mayo, age 84, of Alexandria, VA, formerly of Edina, died at home April 1, 2003. Preceded in death by Mary-Louise, his first wife of 44 years. Survived by Claride, his wife of 17 years; sons, John (Sylvia), Tony (Holly), and Douglas (Susan); stepsons, Stefan (Nancy), Mark (Vera), and David Walters; and ten grandchildren. Veteran of World War II. Long-time employee of Hardware Mutual (Sentry Life). Retired in 1983 as Industrial Relations Manager after 18 years at Gresen Manufacturing Co. Community service included Girl Scouts Advisory Board, State Board of Education, and United Way Allocation Panel. Active in Administrative Management Society: president of the Minneapolis chapter, chair of 1965 International Conference, and director on international board. Throughout his life he contributed to the worship of God as a soloist and choral singer. A memorial service was conducted in Alexandria. Another service will be held in Edina at a later date. Memorials preferred to Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5730 Grove St., Edina MN 55436.
