Ruby Florene Turnbow Hill

Hill Ruby Florene Turnbow Hill passed away on April 16, 2003 at St. Croix Valley Good Samaritan Center. In 1990, Florene and her husband, Donald Hill moved from Minneapolis, MN to St. Croix Falls, WI and resided at their home on Deer Lake. Florene was born December 9, 1931 in Taylor County, TX to parents Mr. & Mrs. E.F. Turnbow. She was blessed with seven brothers and sisters, Horace Turnbow and wife Musette, Alton Turnbow and wife Annolene, Buddy Turnbow and wife Martha, Royce Turnbow and wife Betty, Mildred Turnbow Montgomery and husband James, Nora Ann Turnbow Davis and husband Don (remarried to Gay after Nora's passing) and June Turnbow. Florene graduated from Frenship High School and attended Texas Tech University. Florene married her high school sweetheart, Donald R. Hill, who remained her loving and devoted husband for 50 years while living in Lubbock and El Paso, TX, Denver, CO, Minneapolis, MN and Singapore. Florene and Donald raised two children, Mac Hill and wife Tina of Columbus, OH and Danis Byrd and husband Dick of Edina, MN. Florene was blessed with seven grandchildren, Austin, Grant, Taylor and Brooks, MacKenzie, Richard and Natalie. Florene was a respected schoolteacher, an accomplished interior designer/decorator, and a Women's Christian leader. Her greatest work was as a devoted wife and mother. She was a gracious woman who showed great hospitality and a giving spirit. Every task, big or small, was met with enthusiasm. Florene's legacy will be one of love and compassion, and she will be greatly missed. The lessons she taught will live on for generations in the hearts and minds of her children and grandchildren. Florene is now with the Lord and family who passed on before her: parents, Elijah F. Turnbow and Zella McMillan Turnbow; brothers, Horace, Alton and Buddy; sister, Nora Ann and grandchildren, Richard and Natalie. Florene will remain a part of her loved ones lives.
