Checheris John T. Checheris Passed into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus on April 15, surrounded by family. John was born on February 26, 1916 in Chios, Greece. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 52 years, Eugenia; children, Tom (Vickie) Checheris, Evangeline "Vangie" (Tony) Nicklow, Angela (Chris) Dillon & Leonidas "Lenny"and Kristine Johnson. "Papou" will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Marea Checheris, Anastacia (Erik) Lindholm, Tony, John and Stephan Nicklow, Christopher, Eugenia "Gena"and Natalie Dillon. John is also survived by his nieces, Vange & Theodora Karakatsanis, Mary (John) Anderson and their sons John and Christopher; nephews, John Karas and son Greg, and Dr. Stamati Krimigis and his sons, John and Michael; and many more nieces and nephews in Greece. John immigrated to the United States in 1936 and proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked at the Radisson Hotel's Flame Room for over 40 years. John was a proud member of the Hellenic Post of the American Legion and the Order of A.H.E.P.A. Visitation Friday, 5 pm, Prayer Service 7 pm. Funeral will be held 2 pm Saturday, St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church, 3450 Irving Ave S. Both visitation and funeral service will be held at the church. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery.
