Marsnik Clare Shannon Marsnik, 75, died Saturday morning, April 12, 2003, at her home in Fridley, having courageously faced a seven-month-long battle with cancer. She was born in Minneapolis to Earl and Helen (nee Shannon) Ryan on Nov. 26, 1927. She attended Holy Angels Academy in Richfield and graduated from St. Francis High School in Little Falls, MN. She was a 1949 graduate of the College of Saint Benedict, St. Joseph, MN. She taught high school at Corcoran, MN and first grade at Virginia, MN and at St. Charles Boromeo in St. Anthony. She married Al Marsnik on June 30, 1956. They lived in Dawson, Nashwauk and Columbia Heights, MN before settling in Fridley in 1961. She was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church from its inception in the early 1960s and served as a CCD teacher and as a member of the parish's CCD Board. Al retired from teaching in 1985, after which they began spending summers at the home they built on Lake Little Bear in Voyager Village, near Danbury, WI. Together they enjoyed golfing, boating, swimming, card playing and socializing. They also traveled throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico, with extended winter stays in the Florida panhandle. Clare loved a good story and she had the ability to make people laugh with out trying. One of her favorite sayings was "All this and Heaven too." She is survived by her husband, Al; sist er, Nan Labenski; sons, Mike and Paul; daughers-in-law, Rebecca and Jamie; grandchildren, Sam, Bert, Sarah, Jacob and Mariah; nieces, Rose (Mike) Bird and Maureen Labenski, and nephew Mark (Jane) Labenski. A Memorial service is planned for 10:30 am, Wednesday at St. Williams Catholic Church, 6120 NE 5th St., Fridley (763-571-5600). Visitation will begin one hour before Mass.
