Munro Anne Tiffany Gillette (Tif). Born June 5, 1918 in Hartford, CT. Died March 31, 2002. Preceded in death by husband, William D. Munro. Survived by children, Douglas, Vicky and Maggie; grandchildren Meg, Colin and Ian; sister, Jean Gillette and special friends, Kay and Jim Keane. Anne received her B.A. from NY University and an M.A. in English from the University of Minnesota. She enjoyed three different careers at the U of M, starting out teaching in the English Department, her true Joy. She then went on to work for the Dean of the Veterinary School, Dr. Sidney Ewing, who became a dear friend. Anne finished her years at the U as the Administrator for the Committee on the Use of Human Subjects in Research. A long-time resident of Prospect Park in SE Minneapolis, Anne had a lifelong passion for learning - well into her seventies she was taking Art History, Greek and Russian history courses, and had begun work on a masters degree in History. It was only the onset of Alzheimer's that slowed her down. She loved to read, and was particularly fond of Shakespeare. Also much loved were the times she spent with family at the cabin, camping trips, the North Shore, classical music, FDR, London, and of course, her many cats. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at LakeRidge Health Care Center, the wonderful caregivers of SE Seniors, and a special thanks to Jim McDonald and the staff at Sholom Adult Day Center. A private service is planned. All are welcome to join the family at a reception to honor Anne on April 13 from 5-6:30 pm in the MInnesota Commons Room, U of M St. Paul Student Center, 2017 Buford Ave., St. Paul. Memorials preferred to PARTNERS (Univ. of Minnesota Veterinary Clinic) or Southeast Seniors.
