Martin Dr. Alvin Martin, age 83, of Wayzata, was born on October 25, 1919, near Magnolia, MN, to Oscar and Hannah (Thu) Martin. He attended St. Paul Bible College, where he met and married Ruth Mildred Pierce of Lincoln, NE. During his career with the Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA), Dr. Martin and Ruth served two missionary terms in Palestine. In Regina, Sask., Alvin served as president of Canadian Bible College and founding president of Canadian Theological Seminary. Alvin was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1995. Alvin and Ruth moved to a retirement center in Wayzata, MN, where they lived when Alvin died on April 9, 2003. Alvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Ruben and Marvin. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his brother, Walter (Verdella) Martin, of New Brighton, and five children: Dan & Leigh Ann (Spaulding) of Maple Plain; Keith & Jenny (Milone) of Toronto; Shirley & Steve Gader of Swift Current, Sask.; Nathan & Diane (Anderson) of Denver; and Darrell & Darlene Collison of Toronto. They also have 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral service Saturday, April 12, at Maple Plain Community Church. Visitation begins at 9 am and the funeral at 11 am.
