Tatting Frances E., age 92, of Columbia Heights, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2003 at Crest View Nursing Home. She was born September 22, 1910 in Minneapolis to Carl and Agnes (Hanson) Jevne. She holds the distinction of being the first to be baptized at First Lutheran Church. This was in May of 1912. After graduating from Edison High School in January of 1927, she attended Miss Woods Normal Training School, and graduated in June 1930. Frances' teaching career started in September 1930 as a kindergarten teacher at Columbia School in Columbia Heights. On June 14, 1933 she married her principal, Fred Walter Tatting. After raising four sons and a daughter, Frances returned to teaching, loving each first grader in her St. Anthony classroom from 1955 to 1973. She, and her daughter, Jean, received their four year degrees together from St. Cloud University in 1966. Frances celebrated life. She enthusiastically participated in many church and community activities, zestfully enjoyed her family and looked forward to every new event. Music and books were an important part of her life. Survived by her children, Paul (Alvera), Fred (Vicki); daughters-in-law, Mona (Trahan) and Jackie Tatting; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Gertrude Sterling; and many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, Fred; sons, Warren and Bradley; daughter, Jean; and sister, Helen Nelson. Memorial service Thursday 11:00 AM, First Lutheran Church, 1555 - 40th Ave NE, Col.
