Haugen Orville C. Haugen, 80, of Bloomington, MN and Hayward, WI died Monday, March 11, 2002 in Hayward Hospital, Hayward, WI. Born in Kenyon, MN on December 23, 1921 to Irvin and Mable (Ohnstad) Haugen, he married Emma Maria Tejeras in 1952 and enjoyed 35 years of marriage. Orville celebrated his 80th birthday this last December. He had been a Mechanical Engineer for the 3M company for 27 years, retiring in 1986. During his tenure at 3M, he was a valued employee and he patented 4 designs while working in copying products. He served in the Army Infantry in 1942-43 during World War II and received a Purple Heart for his heroic actions in Italy. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Redemption in Bloomington for 30 years. He guided his children in moral growth through teaching Sunday School and his many years as a Scout Leader. He was an avid car enthusiast, showing his antique cars in Hayward and Minneapolis. Orville is predeceased by his wife, Emma (1985); 2 sisters, June Carnell and Juanita Jackson; and grandson, Josh Haugen. Surviving are his 2 sons, Orville B. of Westminster, CO and Edward W. (Patti) of Hayward, WI; 1 daughter, Cindy L. (Rick) Shepard; 7 grandchildren, Erica Shepard of Elko, MN, Kori Haugen of Richland, WA, Bill Shepard of Burnsville, MN, David Shepard of River Falls, WI, Alyssa Huagen of Monticello, MN, Ben Haugen of Rapid City, SD, and Steven Patefield Haugen of Hayward, WI; 1 great-grandchild, Zane Bishop of Elko, MN; and 1 sister, Ione (Arnie) Aamodt of St. Paul, MN. A celebration of life memorial service was held at the Hayward Wesleyan Church at Hayward, WI on Tuesday, March 12. Funeral services Friday, March 22 at Gill Brothers Funeral Chapel in Bloomington, MN at 12:00 PM. Visitation 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dunwoody Institute of Minneapolis or the Senior Center in Hayward, WI. GILL BROTHERS 952-888-7771
