Nichols William (Bob) Nichols, 79, of Bloomington, Minnesota died at Fairview Southdale Hospital surrounded by his loving family on April 2, 2003. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kermit, and beloved granddaughter, Natalie Kay. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna; sons, Dan (Jill), Jon (Stephanie), and Mark (Beth); grandchildren, Michael, Rachel and Conrad. His family and those who knew him will alwlays remember him as a gentle, generous man. His smile, sense of humor and optimism touched us all. He served as a Corporal in the Army Air Force during World War II. Bob pioneered the industry of affordable electronic music boxes for ice cream trucks. Founding his company, Nichols Electronics in 1957. Over the last 46 years, Nichols Electronics has been the country's major manufacturer of chimes for ice cream trucks and a majority of units now in service were manufactured by Bob and his company.
