Henderson, Miriam L. age 91, most recently of Minneapolis, MN, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at her home. She was born March 18, 1923, in Marshall, IL, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Grove) Potter. She grew up in Illinois and married George L. Henderson, of Nisswa, Minnesota on September 1, 1946. They continued to live in Illinois and then in Wisconsin, including Eau Claire from 1979 to 2013. She enjoyed music all her life playing the piano and violin; working at a music store in Champagne, IL, while attending college; and, later teaching piano to hundreds of students in Eau Claire. In Minneapolis, she enjoyed going to church, playing bridge, watching tennis on TV, and rooting for the Minnesota Lynx. Survivors include her three sons, Larry (Mary Schmidt) of Madison, WI; Lee (Polly Ekeberg) of Minneapolis, MN; Jim (Kathy Kurvers) of Scottsdale, AZ; three grandchildren, Kati (Chris) Gosselin, Laura, and Mari; and, two great-grandchildren, Callie and Maya. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Henderson, in 2003; and, her brother, Willard W. Potter, in 1997. While in Minneapolis she enjoyed living at The Kenwood where she had great care from all the staff. Special thanks to nurse Sandy of Allina Health Hospice for making Miriam's last six months a time to cherish for all of us. An interment service will be held at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Heights United Methodist Church in Eau Claire. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to either Chapel Heights United Methodist Church, 300 E. Hamilton Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54701, or to Allina Health Hospice Foundation in Minneapolis at allinahealth.org.
