Manzara Frederick A. Manzara, Ph.D., age 73, of Edina, died as the result of a stroke, unexpectedly, but peacefully, surrounded by his family. A vital and charismatic man, Fred was active in his career as a professor at Metropolitan State University, serving as chairman of the College of Management and making many contributions to his field. He enjoyed traveling, most recently to Italy and then to New York. Sometimes known as "SuperDad," he greatly valued his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Nanda Pudelek and grandson Philip. Survived by his adoring and adored wife Anne P. Kane. 5 loving children; Thianda (Jon Narita) Manzara, Aldo (Darla) Manzara, Alex (Leslie) Manzara, Ann Whittemore and Martha Lynn Manzara. 4 grandchildren; Miles Frederick Whittemore, Lexis & Julian Manzara and Nick Tomlinson. Also former wife Jean, stepson Sam Selvaggio. He will be greatly missed by his family including the Yaegers, his colleagues, his dear friend Gary Seiler and by many other friends, relatives and students. His sense of humor, his charm, warmth, joy in life, and his embracing love remain with us all. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 11 AM at the Church of St. Patrick, Edina, MN. Interment Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday 5-8 PM at Gill Brothers Funeral Chapel, 5801 Lyndale Ave S., and 1 hour prior to mass at church.
