Dahl James R. Dahl, age 79, of St. Louis Park. Survived by wife, Helen; sons, Tom Dahl, Gary (Joan) Dahl, Mark (Mary) Dahl; daughter, Renee (Duane) Hamilton; grandchildren, Casey, Tony, Hayley & Ian; sisters, Betty DeVore & Marjorie Fitzgerald; brothers, Robert and Glenn Dahl. Jim served 27 yrs with the St. Louis Park Police and 7 years with the Hennepin County Sheriff's Dept. He was the former mayor of St. Louis Park. Past Pres. of the Suburban Chiefs of Police. He belonged to numerous police organizations, graduate of the FBI Academy. Veteran of US Marine Corps-wounded in Guam. Member of the American Legion, VFW and the DAV. Jim's family has a long history in law enforcement; his father Glenn Dahl was an inspector for the original MN. Highway Patrol, brother Glenn is a retired Wayzata Police officer, son Tom retired from the Plymouth police force after 22 yrs. and son Mark is a Henn Co Sheriffs Deputy. The family wishes to thank Dr. Philip Davis and Methodist Hospice for their care. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Thursday at The Church of the Holy Family, 5900 W. Lake St., St. Louis Park. Int. Ft. Snelling. Visitation Wed 5-8 PM with 6:30 PM prayer service at Gearty-Delmore Park Chapel, Wooddale and Excelsior Blvd. Visitation also at church Thursday 1 hr before mass.
