Bernice Lewis Young

Young Bernice Lewis Young, 83 years young. Born Nov. 4, 1919 in Benson County, ND, raised in Devils Lake, ND, fallen asleep in the arms of our Lord, March 29. Preceded in death by siblings, Vivian, Norma, Lloyd and Hazel. Beloved wife, cherished mother to three, and grandmother to many; a second mother to some and friend to all. A zest for life, she was a prairie survivor of the Great Depression, braving the leap to Washington, D.C. to run the telephone switchboards, keeping people in touch during WWII. Marriage and years of health, happiness and love followed. Ceramics and sewing a passion for many years. Loved and admired by all who knew her sense of humor and creativity. She loved animals, birds and the outdoors. Always enjoing God's handiwork in nature and sharing it with others. Survived by husband of 57 years, James Young; children, Sharon Young, Douglas (Kathy) Young and Donald (Barbara) Young; grandchildren, Kimberly, Christina, Benjamin, William, Russell, Andrew (Taren), Eric, Barbara, MaryBeth, Jonathan and Abigail; great-grandchildren, Emily, Alexandra, Tristen and numerous nephews and nieces.
