Myrtle V. Portinga

Portinga Myrtle V. Portinga, age 82. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. "Only one life `twill soon be past; only what's done for Christ will last." Born July 14, 1920, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 22, 2003. Graduated from North Central Bible College 1946, and married to Alfred R. Portinga June 28, 1947. She will be sadly missed and held dear in our hearts forever. We know she is in Jesus' arms now, and we will be united with her someday. Survived by husband, Alfred; 5 children, Marlene (Alan) Stone of Seattle, Wes (Judith) Portinga of Los Angeles, Lorelle (Walter) McFadden of Minneapolis, Joanne (Noble) Handley of Center City, MN, Vicki (Randie) Schwab of Hugo, MN; 19 grandchildren, Jennifer Stone, Rob (Carolyn) von Behren, Jacob Stone; Jenny, Joshua, Joy and Jasmine Portinga; Jason Englund, Mikaela, Derek and Christian McFadden; Charisse Handley (fiance Jared Waterworth), Nick, Austin and Dawson Handley; Logan, Mason, Jesse and Jaden Schwab; 2 great-grandchildren, Jessica Stone, Zachary von Behren; sisters, Vivian (Clarence) Nantz, Sylvia (Frank) Westcott; brother, Al (Alice) Ness; sisters-in-law, Ruth Andrews, Verona (Jerry) Southard, Carole (Jim) Qualls; brother-in-law, Nathaniel (Pat) Portinga; many nieces and nephews; and cousins in Norway, Denmark and the Faroe Islands.
