Fredrickson, Richard Lee 82, of Red Wing, MN passed away Sept 3, 2014. He was born Nov, 8, 1931 in Minneapolis, MN to Oscar and Marie (Dahlen) Fredrickson. Richard was a 1950 graduate of Marshall High School in Minnea-polis. He joined the Navy in 1951 and served his country for nearly four years. He attended St. Olaf College, where he earned his under-graduate degree in physics. While there, he met and married classmate Marcy (Maki). The two had four children; Jeanne (Harry) Gallaher of Minneapolis, MN; David (Patti) Fredrickson of Red Wing; Douglas Fredrickson (deceased); Barbara (Jeff Chappell) Fredrickson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his four siblings and their spouses, a son, a niece and second wife (Sydney). At the time of his passing he had seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He received his masters from Temple University (Pennsylvania). Most of his thirty plus years of teaching were in the Robbinsdale school district (#281), more than twenty of which were at Cooper Senior High (physics and astronomy). A memorial service will be held at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, 602 Plum Street in Red Wing, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014 with a visitation one hour prior. A light meal will follow. A private burial with his immediate family is planned.
