Lenox Mary Dougherty Lenox, age 86, of the Pines of Davidson, NC, died Tues., Feb. 26, 2003 at the Pines. She was born April 7, 1916 in Glenwood, MN, the daughter of the late William Park Dougherty and Marion Stearns Dougherty. After graduating from Wellesley College in 1939, she worked at the Minneapolis Star Tribune. In 1941, she married John Rawson Lenox. Throughout her life, she shared her passion for poetry, story telling, and journalism by working for numerous organizations including Wellesley College, the Huntington Museum, the Lanier Library in Tryon. Memorial service Sat., March 1, 2 pm at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Davidson, NC, with Rector Richard C. Rowe. The family will receive friends from 3-4 pm in the living room of the Pines, Davidson, NC. Mrs. Lenox is survived by her two daughters, Anne Stearns Lenox and Mary Lenox Oussayef of Boston, MA; brother, Dan P. Dougherty of Roseville, CA; and four grandchildren.
