Pech Stephen J. Pech, age 67, of Lino Lakes and formerly of New Brighton, MN, was called home by God on Feb. 24, 2003 after a courageous battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome and Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Carol; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Paul Nyberg, Jennifer and Bruce Baldwin, Denise and Eric Shaffer; seven grandchildren, Patrick and Andrew Nyberg, Nicholas and Katie Baldwin, Brady, Michael, and Olivia Shaffer; two sisters and husbands, Barbara and Rev. Greg Ellcey of Marshalltown, IA and Rita and Marty Burke of Chicago, IL, and wonderful nieces and nephews. Steve was born and raised in Green Bay, WI, graduated in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1959 and was a member of the Tau Beta Pi Honorary Fraternity; and served in the Army Security Agency in Warranton, VA following graduation. His employment at Honeywell Corporation brought Steve to MN in 1962; following 7 years at Honeywell and having worked on the Apollo Program, Steve was subsequently hired by Control Data Corporation where he remained employed for 21 years. He then used his real estate license to join his wife, Carol, as part of the Pech Team at Counselor Realty. Steve was an active member of Christ The King Lutheran Church in New Brighton, serving as president of the choir along with other miscellaneous positions. He served on the Circle Pines City Council, on the church council at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Circle Pines, and as a Director of the YMCA of Greater St. Paul. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Friday, Feb. 28 at Holcomb-Henry-Boom Funeral Home at 515 Hwy 96 at Mackubin in Shoreview, MN, with further visitation from 10 to 11 am on Sat., March 1 at Christ The King Lutheran Church in New Brighton at 1900 7th St. NW. A funeral service will begin at 11 am Sat. at the church, followed by a luncheon open to all.
