Norman Russell Landis

Landis Norman Russell, 79, of S. 26th Ave E. and formerly of Brainerd & Mpls., died Wed., 2/27 at his home after a lengthy illness. Norman was born in Mpls. to Benjamin & Hilma (Miken) Landis and had been a Duluth resident for the past two years. Prior to Duluth, he had lived in Maple Grove, MN for 20 years and Brainerd, MN for 17 years. He was formerly employed as an electrical engineer for Honeywell, retiring in June 1984 after 39½ years. Norman was a former member of Hennepin Ave. United Methodist Church in Mpls. He was an avid photographer and ham radio operator, having built his own radios. But he was best known as a handyman extraordinaire. Norman is survived by his wife, Marion of Duluth; daughter, Paula (Donald) Bjoralt of Duluth, MN; son, Richard (LeAnn) of Edina, MN; 1 brother, Kenneth (Grace) Landis of Scottsdale, AZ; 1 sister, Carol Nordeen of Minnetonka, MN; and 4 grandsons, Shean (Debra), Jason (Mandy), Benjamin and Tony; 1 granddaughter, Jordan; also one great-grandson, Noah. There will be a gathering of friends at 1 PM, followed by the 2 PM Memorial Service Monday in the Pilgrim Congregational Church. Burial will be at Gull Lake. Memorials to the American Cancer Society.
