Smisek Joseph T., 83 yrs., of Mtka., died peacefully Feb. 18 at Methodist Hospital in the presence of his family. The illness was short and unexpected. Dad is survived by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn; children, Joseph M. (Irene), Thomas (Michele), Quentin (Nancy), and Karen (Tom); grandchildren, Joseph E. (Gaby), Michael (Angie), Lauren, and Thomas W.; great-grandson, Dillon. After serving in WWII, Dad returned to MN where he and Mom raised our family. He worked for International Multifoods and as a labor organizer. He was elected Exec. V.P. and later Gen. Secretary Treasurer of the American Federation of Grain Millers. Dad had a life long love of sacred music, sang in several choirs, most recently the Twin City Catholic Choral at the Church of St. Agnes and Schola Cantorum. He was a radio ham, WOUYL known in ham circles as the Useless Young Loafer. His heart and spirit were huge. Dad had a great love of life and family and will be deeply missed.
