Essig Arlene Vivian, born in June, 1931, went home to be with her Lord on February 18, 2002 after a brief battle with cancer. Originally from New York Mills, MN. She raised her family in the Crystal/Robbinsdale area. Survived by children, Steve Groebner, Dianne (Anthony) Novak, Tim (Jody) Groebner, Chuck Groebner, Joe (Barb) Groebner and Jane Covart and 9 grandchildren, Katie, Sean, Eric, Carissa, Tony, Mike, Curt, Debbie and Joey. Also by sister, Ruth Pernula; brother, Kenny (Aileen) Maki; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Maki and brother-in-law, Harley Windels; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives. Awaiting her in Heaven are mother, Ida and father, William Maki; brother, Melvin Maki; sister, Verna Windels; brother-in-law, Alvin Pernula; niece, Karen Hintz and nephew, Gary Maki. Arlene led a full, independent life until the end. The family is grateful to Arlene's caregivers, doctors, her friends, and her church family for their love and support of Arlene. She will be deeply, deeply missed by all who knew her. Funeral Friday, 1 PM at Faith-Lilac Way Lutheran Church, 5530 42nd Ave N., Robbinsdale. Int. Glen Haven.
