Derek D. Campbell, age 21, of Plymouth. Born Sept. 30, 1980 in Rochester and moved with his family to Plymouth in May of 1982. Derek graduated from Wayzata High School in 1999 and attended North Hennepin Community College for 2 years. Derek is preceded in death by grandparents, Sam & Louise Rueb. Derek is survived by parents, David & Patricia Campbell; sister, Kelly; grandparents, George & Mary Emily Campbell; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Derek loved hockey all of his life and played through his high school years. It was a passion. Derek loved to go fishing with his dad, uncles, cousins, great uncles and grandfather on an annual Memorial Day Fishing Trip named for his grandfather. He had participated since he was 5 years old. He had many wonderful times throughout the years on those trips and we want to thank the family members for making those some of the best memories of his life. Other great times with other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends made him the wonderful person that he was. Mass of Christian Burial 3 pm Thursday at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 155 County Rd 24, Medina. Visitation 5-8 pm Wednesday, with a 7 pm prayer service at the Gearty-Delmore Chapel of Plymouth, 37th Ave. N. & Vicksburg Lane, and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment 11 am Friday at Grandview Memorial Garden, Rochester. Memorials to the Wayzata Youth Hockey Association for the Derek Campbell Scholarship Fund. Derek was loved by many and our lives were touched in so many ways. We will miss him, his sparkling personality, great smile, good humor, kindness, and his sensitivity to everyone.
