Frans Ada I., age 97, passed away peacefully February 14, 2002, at Chapel View Care Center in Hopkins, MN. Ada was born November 7, 1904 near Grangesberg, Sweden, the eighth of 12 children to Karl & Augusta Jansson. She immigrated to the U.S. with her brother, Holger, arriving in Duluth, MN in January of 1925. She met her husband, Bernard Frans, who was also a Swedish immigrant, in Duluth and they were married in June of 1928 and they enjoyed their only daughter, Bernice Frans. Ada was a professional seamstress and homemaker and lived in Duluth from 1925 until 1978 when she moved to St Louis Park, MN. She will be sadly missed by not only her surviving family, but all those who ever met her. She will be remembered as a ``special Swedish lady'' who left a smile with everyone she met, not only due to her distinctive accent and laugh and golden heart, but also for her incredible gift to make wonderful meals. She was preceded in death by her parents; 10 brothers and sisters; and her husband, Bernard, of 47 years. She is survived by one sister in Sweden, Karin Gustafsson; her daughter & son-in-law, Bernice and John Holmberg of St Louis Park; 4 grandchildren & their spouses, Jeff (Kim) Holmberg of Annandale, Jill Frans of Eden Prairie, Julie (Doug) Henry of St Anthony and John Holmberg of Mpls. In addition, she is survived by 6 great-grandchildren, Holly and Kayla Holmberg, Joshua Vaughan, Shawn and Sara Henry and John Holmberg. Services will be held Wednesday February, 20, 2002 at 1 PM at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave. S, Edina, 952-924-4100, with Reviewal 1 hour prior to service.
