Northrop Beach, M.D., of Minneapolis, formerly of Edina, died Feb. 10, 2002 at the age of 90. Born in Minneapolis. Attended school in France and at Phillips Academy Andover. Graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Medical School. Intern at John Hopkins and a Pediatric Resident at the University of Minnesota. One of the original members of the Nicollet Clinic and later a physician with Park Nicollet. Also Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota Medical School, carrying on the tradition of service to the U of M begun by his grandfather, Cyrus Northrop, and continued by his father, Joseph Warren Beach. A lover of Franch language, literature, and culture, he was an active member of the Alliance Francaise and the Liaison Francaise. He was an avid bird watcher and world-wide traveler. Northrop was interested in everyone he met. Survived by wife, Myrtle; sons, Joseph (Diane), Norris (Tenny) and Christopher (Carrie); daughter, Cecilia (Laurent); and grandchildren, Stephanie, Matthew, Scott, Joseph, John, Julian and Francesca. Memorial Services at First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis, 900 Mt. Curve Ave., Saturday, Feb. 16 at 2:00 PM.
