Christy Tande

Tande Christy, age 86, passed away on Feb. 1, 2003 at Manor Care in Palm Harbor, FL. Christy was preceded in death by her husband, Syrus; and son, Stephen. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Debbie Tande (Gordon) Stofer; grandsons, Brett, Scott, Gordy, Ted and Jimmy; sisters, Marie Odney, Elsa MacBean. Christy was born Mar. 15, 1916 in Dell Rapids, SD. She graduated from St. Olaf College, where she met Sy. Christy and Steve returned to Minneapolis to live with her parents, Anders and Hulda Bersaker, while Sy served in World War II. After Sy's return from the war, the young Tande family lived for a short while in Fairmont, MN, where Sy practiced dentistry. Sy later re-enlisted in the service, and as the wife of a Naval Officer, Christy lived in San Diego, CA, Bethesda, Maryland, and Chicago, IL, before retiring to Clearwater, FL twenty years ago. The family wishes to thank Dr. Marshall and the nurses at Largo Medical Center, Largo, FL, and the staff of Manor Care in Palm Harbor, FL. We also wish to thank Debbie and Dale Crum, of Forerunner Medical Consultants, for their loving support of Christy and expert guidance for her care. A private service for family will be held in Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Clearwater, FL or St. Olaf College of Northfield, MN.
