Marcell James Earl, age 75, of Golden Valley, on Feb. 1, 2003, of pneumonia following surgery. Born and raised in Mpls., he taught art to at least 2 generations. His career began in 1951 at Lincoln Jr High in Mpls. He later went to Richfield H.S., where he taught until 1985. Jim also had a great love of the theatre which he passed on to many of his students. His first shows were classical dramas, however in 1967 his vision expanded to full-scale musicals. In all, he directed, designed and choreographed 20 musicals. Retirement gave him new time to focus on his great love of acrylic painting, implementing new techniques & ideas. He passed away just 4 months after Betty, his wife of 52 years. Survived by daughters, Lynn & Lise, grandchildren Andrew, Abigail and Michael, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews & family friend Greg. Memorial Service Sunday, Feb. 23, 1 pm at Cremation Society of MN, 4343 Nicollet Ave. S., Mpls.
