Michael E. Casey Loving family and friends will greatly miss a good man, Michael E. Casey, age 76, who passed away February 2, 2002 of cancer in Stuart, FL. He leaves his devoted wife of 51 years, Gloria; and a family he was very proud of; sons, Timothy (Bonnie) Casey and Michael (Katie) Casey; daughters, Colleen (Mike) Schmaltz, Marybeth (Bruce) Johnson and Sheila Krausert; grandchildren, Christopher, Sean (Kelly) and Brett, Daniel, Jenny and Allie, Molly and Kaila, are his legacy. He is also survived by his sister, Catherine Worcester; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis & Margaret Casey; and brother, Eugene Casey. Mike was born and raised in a close knit, extended Irish family in NE Mpls and went to DeLaSalle High School. He served as a Navy aviator during WW II, and later made his living in the glass business, first with Pittsburgh Plate Glass, and then leaving in 1967 to form North Star Glass in Anoka, a business still carried on by his sons. Mike & Gloria are former long time residents of Coon Rapids and believed deeply in community development. The family is a charter member of the Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids. Mike was a civic leader who ran for the State Legislature, was a past President of both the Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce, as well as Marquee of the Coon Rapids Snowflake Festival. He was a past member of the Coon Rapids Development Commission, the Lions Clubs and the American Legion Post #334. He also was instrumental in forming the Minnesota Glass Association and a member of the National Glass Association. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, 10 am, with reviewal one hour prior to Mass at Epiphany Catholic Church, 11001 Hanson Blvd NW, Coon Rapids. Interment 1:30 pm Friday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Mpls. Visitation 5-8 pm Thursday at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, West Main St and Branch Ave., Anoka. Vigil prayers 6:30 pm.
