Roberts Byron Harvey Roberts, M.D., age 76 of Sanibel, FL (formerly of Edina, MN) died suddenly on Saturday, January 25 while traveling to Vail, CO. He was born on September 30, 1926 in Rockford, IL. Preceded in death by parents, Bert Harvey and Helen (West) Roberts. Survived by loving wife, Dolores (Johnson) with whom he celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary last fall. Also survived by sister, Beverly Ryan of Littleton, CO; children, Bradford Harvey (Claire) of Shoreview, MN, Stephen Francis (Sarah) of Minnetrista, MN, and Susan (James) Glass of Redmond, WA; grandchildren, Brenna and Brooke Roberts, Maddie, Henry and Patrick Roberts, Josie (Bobby) Fleschute and Aaron Glass; and one great-grandchild, Nicky Glass. He graduated from Minneapolis West High School and served in the US Navy. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School and founded Minneapolis Anesthesia. He was Chief of Anesthesia and a significant and central force in the growth of Fairview on the river from 1951 until his retirement in 1986. He was active in the Shrine and was a Blue Lodge Mason, a York Rite Mason and a member of the Zuhrah Shrine Royal Order of Jesters and Horsemen. He loved boating and was a member of the US Power Squadron, the Captiva Island Yacht Club and captain of BRANDEE, his 25' Sea Skiff on Lake Minnetonka, and later, his 28' Grady White on Sanibel. He was an avid skier and sportsman who traveled extensively with Dolores, family and friends. He loved his family, his medical career and his retirement on Sanibel. He was a Norwegian convert thanks to his wife, children and great friends. In the words of his son Brad: "He was as good as man gets: great in skill, deep in conviction, strong of personality and warm of heart." In his own words: "Not always right, but never in doubt."
