Vonhof, Albert J. age 93 of Edina, Minnesota passed away December 14, surrounded by the love of his family. Born July 17, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois. Served in the US Army 1943-1946. Served in the Allied Forces in Japan. Also served in the Air Force Reserves. He attended Georgia Tech, Loyola University, and Stanford University. Preceded in death by parents Fred and Marie. Survived by the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Virginia (Restivo) Vonhof; children Anne (Guda), Jeanne, Tom, Mary (John), John (Laura); grandchildren Marco (Elizabeth), Michael (Rachel), Katie, Lisa, Ben, Jack, and Marina; and great-grandchildren Luke, Logan, and Sophie; and by his cousin, Cheryl Walczak. Al had a long and productive professional life as an accountant and manager at General Mills, Farmhand, and as the Business Administrator and Treasurer of St. Catherine's University. Al was most proud of his wife, and each of his children, their children, and their accomplishments. He loved spending time with family and friends. Al's listening skills and his kind attention made a difference in the lives of many children. Al enjoyed travel, reading, technology, his Silver Sneakers group, history, nature, and root beer. In the last few years he especially enjoyed the quiet contemplation of his spiritual faith. He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, cousin, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. His smile, kindness, quiet wisdom and wit will be missed by many. Much loved. Visitation will be held at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home, 5000 W. 50th St., Edina from 4-7 pm Monday, December 18, 2017. Reviewal at 10 am and Catholic Mass at 11 am on Tuesday, December 19th at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 6 Interlachen Rd. in Hopkins. Interment at St. Margaret's Cemetery in Hopkins, MN.
